Is The Bible Is The True Word Of The One True God?

Before you believe anything about Christianity, you should want to know “why” you should believe that the Bible is the true word of the one true God Almighty. This is at the very core of belief in Jesus as the Son Of God for our salvation. This article is focused on why we should believe everything written in the Bible – a foundation of the truth. A foundation we can have that is built on facts to give us full confidence in the Word of God.

Proof One:
Bible Prophecy Fulfilled

It is the most important question that all of us must ask of all religions in order to believe that the one you choose is the true religion of the true God. God’s prophecies made a  believer out of me. Without them I would still not know what to believe. Many do not realize the importance of Bible Prophecy but the fact that it comprises 30% of the Bible should send a signal to all of us. How can we know that the prophecies of the Bible are true and will occur? If we look at the prophecies from the past that have already been fulfilled we can see just how accurate God’s prophecies are. If we look at the Old Testament it is clear that the Jewish people (God’s Chosen People) looked toward the Messiah’s first coming and his death on the cross. This is because of the prophecies about His first coming found in the Old Testament. We now look back at Christ’s first coming and death on the cross because of the precision with which the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled. Here are just a couple of the many historical prophecies of the Old Testament that were fulfilled.

Fulfilled: The Coming Of The Messiah (Jesus the Christ)

The list of prophecy fulfilled regarding the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus the Christ is an overwhelming proof that the Bible is the true word of the true God. Here are some of the amazing prophecies fulfilled in Jesus:

1. He would be born of a virgin.

Old Testament: Isaiah 7:14,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 1:18-23

2. He would come from the tribe of Judah, one of the 12 tribes descended from Jacob.

Old Testament: Genesis 49:10
New Testament fulfillment: Luke 3:23-24

3. He would be born in Bethlehem.

Old Testament: Micah 5:2,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 2:1

4. He would be preceded by a messenger.

Old Testament: Isaiah 40:3,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 3:1-2

5. He would enter Jerusalem riding on a colt.

Old Testament: Zechariah 9:9,
New Testament fulfillment: Luke 19:35-37

6. He would be betrayed by a friend.

Old Testament: Psalm 41:9,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 26:47-50

7. He would be sold for 30 pieces of silver.

Old Testament: Zechariah 11:12,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 26:15

8. He would be beaten and spit upon.

Old Testament: Isaiah 50:6
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 26:67

9. He would be wounded and whipped by his enemies.

Old Testament: Isaiah 53:5,
New testament fulfillment: Matthew 27:26

10. His hands and feet would be pierced.

Old Testament: Psalm 22:16,
New testament fulfillment: Luke 23:33

11. He would be crucified with thieves.

Old Testament: Isaiah 53:12,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 27:38

12. Men would cast lots for his clothing.

Old Testament: Psalm 34:20,
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 27:35

13. He would not answer, or speak, to His accusers.

Old Testament: Isaiah 53:7
New Testament fulfillment: Matthew 27:12-14

14. He would live again after dying.

Old Testament: Job 19:25,
New Testament fulfillment: John 2:19, Matthew 12:39, 16:3

This is just a very small example! In fact, there are at least 250+ Prophecies that Christ fulfilled from Old Testament Prophecies about the foretold coming of the Messiah. This cannot be BY CHANCE. The statistical odds are astronomical and too great to dismiss the truth of God’s prophecies concerning the first coming of Christ.

Consider that in statistical probability,

  1. 1 person fulfilling 8 prophecies is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000
  2. 1 person fulfilling 48 prophecies: 1 chance in 10 to the 157th power

Now, consider the statistical probably of Jesus having fulfilled all these listed Old Testament prophecies above about the Messiah that would come! And this is not all the prophecies about Jesus as Messiah either. It is not off the charts my friends. In fact, it is well beyond the charts!

Some skeptics go as far as to say that Christ simply read the Old Testament prophecies and then did what they said. But how could anyone predict where he would be born and under what circumstance he was born? How could anyone predict that exactly two thieves would be crucified with him, or that men would cast lots for his clothing? And why would any man actually want to die such a horrible death on a cross? These are only a few of the prophecies of the Bible that have been fulfilled to the letter regarding Christ’s first coming. There are in fact over 300+ prophecies fulfilled for Christ’s first coming alone! There are many other prophecies fulfilled and many prophecies are coming to pass right before our very eyes in this modern time.

Fulfilled: Rebuilding of the First Temple Prophecy Fulfilled

During the First Temple Period of Jerusalem there was a Prophet named Isaiah. Isaiah prophesied doom for a sinful Judah and for all the nations of the world that oppose God. He warned Israel to turn back to God as there had been a falling away. Isaiah wrote the following Scripture,

“That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.” (Isaiah 44:28 KJV)

A look at the history of Jerusalem shows that the First Temple was not built by anyone by the name of Cyrus.

“According to Hebrew scripture, King David reigned until 970 BCE. He was succeeded by his son Solomon, who built the Holy Temple on Mount Moriah. Solomon’s Temple (later known as the First Temple), went on to play a pivotal role in Jewish history as the repository of the Ark of the Covenant.”
(Quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem#Temple_periods July 9/2014)

So we know that at the time of Isaiah writing this the temple in Jerusalem was already in place. So this is Isaiah writing what God told him to write and is a Prophecy. History records,

“For over 450 years, until the Babylonian conquest in 587 BCE, Jerusalem was the political capital of firstly the united Kingdom of Israel and then the Kingdom of Judah and the Temple was the religious center of the Israelites. This period is known in history as the First Temple Period. Upon Solomon’s death (c. 930 BCE), the ten northern tribes split off to form the Kingdom of Israel. Under the leadership of the House of David and Solomon, Jerusalem remained the capital of the Kingdom of Judah. The Tower of David as seen from the Hinnom Valley when the Assyrians conquered the Kingdom of Israel in 722 BCE, Jerusalem was strengthened by a great influx of refugees from the northern kingdom. The First Temple period ended around 586 BCE, as the Babylonians conquered Judah and Jerusalem, and laid waste to Solomon’s Temple.”
(Quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem#Temple_periods July 9/2014)

So we can see that when the Babylonian’s took control of Jerusalem they laid waste to Solomon’s Temple. It was destroyed. Looking a little further into the history of this line of events we can see the fulfillment of the prophecy Isaiah had given.

In 538 BCE, after fifty years of Babylonian captivity, Persian King Cyrus the Great invited the Jews to return to Judah to rebuild the Temple. (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem#Temple_periods July 9/2014) Here again was the prophecy given:

“That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.” (Isaiah 44:28 KJV)

We see this prophecy was fulfilled just as written over 100 years after Isaiah wrote the words given to him by God.

Fulfilled: The Birth Place Of The Messiah, Jesus The Christ

Around 700 B.C., the Prophet Micah foretold of the birthplace of the Messiah as Bethlehem. This is an incredibly accurate Prophecy spanning such a long time span until it was fulfilled.

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” (Micah 5:2 KJV)

There is only one that came forth from everlasting and that is Jesus Christ, the Son Of God. Jesus’ Earthly parents, Mary and Joseph, resided in Nazareth but Jesus was born in Bethlehem just as foretold.

Prophecy Fulfilled: A Proof That The Bible Is The True Word of The One True God

These are just some of literally thousands of Bible Prophecies that have already been fulfilled. All of which have such specific accuracy proving without a shadow of a doubt that the Bible is the word of the true God.

There are also many Bible Prophecies regarding time period that the Bible calls “The Last Days” and the “End of The Age”. This time period is when Christ will return for His church at the Rapture, as well as His Second Coming. Many of the Last Days Bible Prophecies have already recently been fulfilled and others are starting to come to pass. You can see them right on your television news reports! In fact, much of the stage is set and the final act of the church age is nearing an end when Jesus will return to Earth and setup His eternal kingdom on Earth.

Bible Prophecy For The Last Days; The Time Period In Which We Now Live

God set Israel apart from all other nations in history; it is the nation of God’s chosen people, the Jewish people. It is not that they are any better than any other people on Earth, the Bible shows they too sin. It is God who chose this as His chosen people. From the time Jesus spoke this it has been thousands of years and yet, in 1948 Israel became a nation once again and that started the time period the Bible calls the Last Days. It is not the “end of the world” as you may have heard so many times. It is the Last Days of the church age and we are about to witness the return of Jesus Christ, first at the Rapture of believers and then when believers return to Earth with Christ at His Second Coming to setup His 1000 year Kingdom reign on Earth. The signs are everywhere now.

Here are just some of the Last Days signs:

  • Israel once again becomes a nation in 1948.
    (Matthew 24: 32-34, Jeremiah 31:10-11. Isaiah 35:1)
  • Massive exodus of Jews returning from the nations they were scattered back to Israel
    (Deuteronomy 30:3-4, Isaiah 11:11-12, Amos 9:14-15)
  • Jerusalem will be a “cup of trembling” and a “burdensome stone” to all nations
    (Zechariah 12:2-3)
  • Like Birds flying (Fighter Jets/Airplanes)
    (Isaiah 31:5)
  • Israel desert blossoming as a rose – This has been fulfilled in our time! This once desolate land has been blessed by God. In fact, Israel is one of Europe’s largest exporters of fruit today!
    (Isaiah 35:1)
  • Knowledge Explosion, People running to and fro. An Increase in travel as never before.
    (Daniel 12:4)
  • Gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all the world
(Matthew 24:14) Television. YouTube®. Mobile devices.
  • In the end times people will be “lovers of themselves, covetous, proud, boasters, disobedient to parents, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God, having a form of Godliness but denying the power thereof.” – This describes the times in which we live very well.
    (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
  • Scoffers mocking the Second Coming of Christ
    (2 Peter 3:3-4)
  • Large earth quakes in various places around the world in increasing numbers
    (Matthew 24)
  • Mass animal deaths in the air, sea and land [ Watch This ]
This is starting to happen around the globe in various places.
    (Hosea 4:2-3)
  • Euphrates River Dries up to make way for the army of kings from the east. A prophecy to happen in the Last Days is fulfilled. Armies can now cross the Euphrates River in Iraq/Iran over dry land because of a man made dam. (Revelation 16:12)
  • Establishment of a one world government (The NWO, New World Order) which is in full swing process now! Our leaders are openly telling us about the soon coming New World Order which is soon to come. (Revelation 13). [ Watch Here ]
  • Rivers and waterways turning blood red around the world
    [ Watch This ] (Ezekiel 32:6, Revelation 16: 3-4)

Again, this is just a small handful of Bible Prophecies for our time that have come to pass and there are MANY MANY more!

God’s Counsel Shall Stand!

God uses prophecy fulfilled to let us discern the truth from the fallacy. To let us know without doubting that the Bible is the true word of the one true God.

“I am God, and there is none else; I am God and there is none like me, declaring the beginning from the end, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isaiah 46:9-10) [KJV] “I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them;” (Isaiah 48:5 KJV)

Proof Two:
The Bible is consistent from Genesis to Revelation

If a single author sits down and wants to write a story book that is consistent from beginning to end, they work out the index and start writing. In this case, it is clear and understandable that a single person has done this and made everything written to be consistent throughout the book as to be believable right? Many think that this is the way it is with the Bible but that is simply not the case at all.

There is no one person that wrote the Bible. In fact, there are 66 books in the Bible with 40 authors that span 1500+ years . These authors were from different time periods, cultures, and occupations. From the highly educated like Moses to simple fisherman like Peter. They wrote in different time periods spanning thousands of years. Many did not even understand what they wrote such as Daniel who did not understand the end time prophecies God told him to write down (God told him it is not for him to know but those in the last days would understand – and we do understand them today!).

From Genesis to Revelation the entire Bible tells a factual and detailed consistent story about historical events, who we truly are, why we exist, why there is evil and why there is so many problems and wars and ultimately with the main theme being our need for salvation through Jesus the Christ.

Proof Three:
Historical Accuracy Of The Bible

The books of the Bible are not just stories told by these writers. They are historically accurate as well. The Bible is comprised of historical facts. There is much evidence from archaeology that confirm the Biblical accounts as historical facts. Even the school system (where God is not valid and prayer is prohibited) recognizes Biblical accounts as historical truth! The historical accuracy of the Bible has been vindicated many times over as have no other religious writings. Archeology continues proving that what the Bible says happened.. actually happened.

I found one website that does a very good job of some examples of such archaeology finds. It is called “https://answersingenesis.org” and cites finds such as:

Enuma Elish  – This is the Babylonian Creation Record
The Epic of Gilgamesh includes the Babylonian Flood Story.

I encourage you to read this website at https://answersingenesis.org/archaeology/does-archaeology-support-the-bible/ for more interesting facts.
