That is a loaded question that we all wonder about. We know that God is all knowing, past/present/future. We also know the God created the angel Lucifer who was once the closest angel to God and was called “the shining one”. (Ezekiel 28:12-13 , 14-15) Of course, we also know that Lucifer became full of pride and wanted to be God at some point and was able to convince one third of all the angels to join him in rebellion. (Revelation 12:3-6)
Both Lucifer and these fallen angels became know as demons and Lucifer became known as Satan (which means adversary). We know all this from God’s word, the Bible. There is the question… If God knew beforehand that Lucifer would do this and become evil, why did God create him in the first place. Why did God allow Adam and Eve to be tempted by Satan.
The questions continue on this topic. Again it may be very difficult to answer because we are not God and God knows what He is doing way beyond our understanding. There is a reason but there are some things God does not tell us. That said, He has told us enough to know that He is perfectly just and right in all that He does.
For example, what if God removed all evil starting tomorrow. Would that be a good thing? Yes? Are you sure? What about free choice? Would you rather that God created you as a robot, without free choice? If all evil disappeared tomorrow so would almost everyone on the planet loose freedom of choice. God wants an intimate relationship with you and I. He did not want to create robots for a relationship. God gave us free choice from day number one. It is we who turned away from God and sinned against Him.
No denying it, evil exists all around us on planet Earth. But remember that God wants everyone (ALL!) to be forgiven their sins and become the sons and daughters of God.
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9 KJV)
That is why Christ has thus far delayed His second coming over 2000 years. He longs to redeem us! But he is long suffering so that the most can be saved and He already knows those throughout history that will receive His great gift of salvation.
Christ is the groom and wants for His bride to come home (see our “Godly Proposal” article) Just reading the first book of the Bible Genesis makes it clear that humankind is the beings who have done evil from the very beginning. No evil comes from God but from us. God did not create robots and we were created with a free will. We chose wrongly.
That said, God still made provision and sent His only Son to die on the cross and pay the punishment for the sins of the whole world. (John 3:16) A person may give their live for a loved one but while we were God’s enemies, He showed us such a great love. God even gave us Christ’s righteousness. How great a God we have!
So even though there is evil and God is allowing it, He has a plan and for those that accept the free gift of eternal life through Christ’s atoning work on the cross it is an amazing plan. We do not know the entire plan but what the Bible tells us about heaven on Earth to come is enough for us to believe in God and trust Him while we continue our walk in this evil world until He takes us home.
Christ is returning. I beg you… Be ready. Only one sin will keep you out of heaven and that is the sin of not accepting His forgiveness!!! Ask Christ to forgive your sins and to enter your life. He is waiting for you to come back to Him with wide open arms.
